First Book
Washington, D.C.
I am a graduate student at George Washington University, getting my Master in Public Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management. Over the course of the past three semesters of my graduate program, I have been furthering the development of my business plan for my startup - a nonprofit focusing on financial education and mentoring in low-income D.C. communities - with the help of my adviser, Dr. Michael Worth, in independent research courses. While pursuing my master's degree, I am working in corporate new business development part-time at First Book, a nationwide nonprofit social enterprise providing new books and other resources to low-income communities. I also work as a pro bono consultant for the Forgotten Brave Foundation, a veteran’s initiative, helping spearhead a pilot program with a Fortune 500 tech company. I grew up in McLean, Virginia, and attended UNC Chapel Hill (go Heels!), where I received my B.A. in International Studies and Russian. After graduation, I worked on the 2012 Obama campaign in Tampa, Florida as a campus organizer at the University of Tampa and University of South Florida. Following the campaign, I moved back up to Washington, D.C., and began working for Brunswick Group – a crisis communications firm – where I remained until beginning the master’s program at GW.
